Kyoto walk idle, muted, playback speed 1×.
Kyoto rewards slowness more than most cities, which makes it an odd fit for video and a very good fit for a walk left running. The old lanes are narrow, wooden and quiet, with the noise arriving in bursts wherever a temple approach concentrates people. A few streets away it is an ordinary modern Japanese city again — convenience stores, power lines, bicycles. The transitions between those two Kyotos happen without any announcement, and on foot you feel each one.
